  • Started hiking at the mid-lodge at 5:45 am with about 7-8 inches of powder. 55 minute to the top straight up the Poma line along recently groomed Warren’s Way.

We took the same route as last year (day after Valentine’s blizzard) that maximizes vertical and mixes terrain to a roughly a 3:1 trees to trails ratio.
    The summit had around…

  • Norwich 2/28

Just got back from a quick one and done on the ski hill here in Northfield. One hour door to door.
conditions….8-10, sunny, perfect temp for a tour. Lift line got a good bit of action yesterday so i cruised down skier’s left trail off the top. Undulating terrain, old school trail that winds it’s way down with some nice short woods shots if you cut the corners a bit….out into a huge open, low angle meadow, I flushed up a deer out of the birch sapplings that are slowly reclaiming this…

  • Shawnee Peak, ME 2/27 (night)

    Date(s) Skied: 2/27/08 (night)

Resort or Ski Area: Shawnee Peak (ME)

Conditions: Packed Powder, tracked up heavy powder - overall variable

    Trip Report:

For the first time tonight, I skied with a fellow Azer - Terry. He was kind enough to invite me along to ski with him and a couple of guys who are from the BobR Sunday River crew. Beautiful night to be out on the hill, high 20’s, minimal wind. I rolled up to the lift at 6:45 and I thought that it might be…

  • Bolton Valley 2-27-08

    Date Skied: 2-27-08

Resort or Ski Area: Bolton Valley

    Conditions: Powder, packed powder

Trip Report: We had a great day at Bolton Valley today. We took the whole family and left the little guy in day care. It’s the last family trip we’ll take (counting my wife) before he’s old enough to get on skis himself.

There was lots of fresh snow, no lift lines and a steady snow that fell all afternoon. It was a bit windy when we arrived late morning, but that cleared up as…

  • Stowe 2/27…Powder Day

    My reply to a friend’s email…

    >A blissful powder frenzy with a rotating group of great skiers (Jim Clapp,
    >Dylan, Scott B, Wulffie and his brother, Brothers Adler) - what more could I
    >ask for on my birthday?
    >
    >its fair to say that very few things in life compare to a midweek powder day
    >on Mount Mansfield.

Happy Birthday man…that was quite a posse we started with. After a first run, in which JJ headed towards Gondolier with Allen and crew, of boot to knee deep blower through the…

  • Magic 2/27/08

Brief report. Just got back from Magic. They are in excellent shape. If anyone is wavering on going tomorrow, there is plenty of broken up powder and even some freshy still there. It’s a can’t miss tomorrow!
I will elaborate more and post some pictures in the morning. You have to trust me on this! They got 10" which skied like 20". The only time you hit a little scrape was on the steeps (cliffs, waterfalls) on Red Line and Black Line. Otherwise it was truly unbeleivable. They only had two…

  • Stowe 2/28…The Day After

After doing the powder day feeding frenzy thing on Wednesday, Dave and I arrived to an absolutely empty Stowe base area…literally 1/4 of those who were there on Wednesday. Well, that’s ok because a few inches of fresh coupled with some wind refreshing worked out nicely. The sun was shining, the cord was sparking under the gondi, and the sky was blue.

Of course, we were heading up to the Mansfield Ridge with visions of the Rock Garden dancing in our…

  • Sugarloaf/USA

Before that wonderful snowstorm rolled into New England, I packed up and headed for the mountains of Maine. This time Sugarloaf/USA was the destination and I stayed at the Sugarloaf Inn, so all I had to do was get out of bed and hit the trails! The storm left about eight inches of powder, and at 8:30 I was riding up the Superquad. From there went down Sluice Headwall to Sluice, yummy powder to ski through! Boarded the Spillway East Double and headed over to the King Pine Quad, I knew that those…

  • Sugarbush 2/27/08

Had a good day skiing at Mt. Ellen, though I was a little disappointed since the "storm" didn’t live up to the weather prognostication. There was about 8" new snow between the hours of lift close on Tuesday and lift open on Wednesday. Light snow fell all day. Kinda frustrating to find out when I got home that Sugarbush got the lease snow of almost any area in NNE. Upper half of the mountain was damn windy. It seemed as if the snow had all blown into the woods or had been groomed down. …
